Alpaca Show comes to Stoneleigh Park
Stoneleigh Park is set to stage one of the UK's biggest alpaca shows.
UK breeders and animal lovers across the UK are set to converge on Stoneleigh Park on the 28th – 29th April, as it hosts its annual ‘Spring Alpaca Fiesta’ – one of the biggest alpaca shows in the events calendar.
With the event traditionally aimed at both hobby and large herd alpaca breeders, Spring Alpaca Fiesta is this year opening its doors to the general public as show organisers respond to the growing popularity of one of Peru’s most beautiful creatures.
Free to attend, the event gives visitors the opportunity to learn more and get close to the different breeds of alpaca in the 800 acres of picturesque Warwickshire countryside which makes Stoneleigh Park the perfect venue for this type of event. Visitors can expect to see around 300 alpacas, with both the popular fluffy ‘Huayaca’ and rarer ‘Suri’ breeds set to be on show.
The event is run by the Heart of England Alpaca Group on behalf of the British Alpaca Society (BAS), which is dedicated to the welfare of alpacas and the education of their owners in the UK.
Paul Stead, chairman for the Heart of England Alpaca Group, said: “The UK’s affection for alpacas shows little sign of diminishing and so we’re aiming to make this year’s event more of a showcase for the wider general public.”
Ian Pegler, CEO for Stoneleigh Park, added: “With the alpaca a hugely popular family attraction and a massive hit with children of all ages, we welcome the organisers attempts to broaden the show’s appeal.
“The Spring Alpaca Fiesta illustrates the breadth of events Stoneleigh Park can stage, as we look to further build on our reputation as one of the most diverse and flexible event venues in the country.”
Stoneleigh Park caters for up to 40,000 visitors per day, staging flagship events such as Your Horse Live and Race Retro. In addition to offering accommodation, Stoneleigh Park also boasts two 4 x 4 tracks, two purpose built equine arenas and several exhibition and conference halls. The venue also has a strong royal heritage, having hosted The Royal Show for many years whilst its Royal Pavilion provides a stunning backdrop for weddings celebrations.
