Surging US prices and the continued uncertainty in Egypt have been the talking points this week.
The political and civil unrest in Egypt has seen logistical problems such as port restrictions, slow loading and lack of trucks put a halt to exports.
Demand for Urea in Europe has risen as farmers switch to Urea to replace CAN and AN where production problems have caused shortages and large price rises.
In the UK, national AN is now priced at 330 a tonne delivered, and both GrowHow and Yara are considering yet another price rise to bring prices into line with increases already fixed in France.
Lithuanian product, the only really genuine replacement for national product, is available in the UK at a good discount, but growers should be quick as new shipments that were destined for the UK are now finding their way into French ports at more money.
The Phosphate market has been stable but spring demand in Asia, South America and the US will see prices move upwards in the weeks ahead. Potash interest is increasing with some areas still to purchase.
Producers watch with interest but expect higher prices as historically high grain prices will continue to support fertiliser price increases.
