Gleadell Fertiliser Report

FERTILISER MARKETS
Nitrate prices across the whole of Europe are strong as GPN in France continue to suffer from production problems in Rouen and Grandspuits. Prices are set to firm further through Q1 and in to Q2.
Higher CAN prices have already been posted in Europe, so Yara and GrowHow are now looking to address all prices in the UK next week.
Granular Urea remains a good value alternative to other nitrates for farmers now looking to switch, so demand will increase in the weeks ahead.
Improving grain prices will continue to support fertiliser prices and also improve all farm gross margins in the arable sector. Prospects look less favourable in the grassland areas where much of the fertiliser purchasing has still to be done.
It has been announced this week that J and H Bunn Ltd have entered into a period of exclusive negotiation with Koch Fertiliser, the intention being that Koch will acquire all the Bunn fertiliser business and all regional brands.
More rationalisation in an ever-increasing global fertiliser market means that imported fertiliser will continue to increase its presence in the UK market.
Gleadell have two import facilities at Immingham and Avonmouth strategically placed to service all the requirements of the UK farmer and have Granular Urea, Lithan Ammonium Nitrate and 16-16-16 compound product available for delivery Jan/Feb and March.
