Moy Park grower commended for progressive farming
Moy Park grower, Graham McIlroy, has received a highly commended award in the Progressive Farmer of the Year category at the 2014 Farm Business Food and Farming Industry Awards held at the House of Commons.

Moy Park grower, Graham McIlroy, has received a highly commended award in the Progressive Farmer of the Year category at the 2014 Farm Business Food and Farming Industry Awards held at the House of Commons.
Graham, who owns McIlroy’s Chickens in Aghadowey, Northern Ireland, was recognised by the judges for his use of modern, welfare friendly production techniques. The panel commented that being an early adopter of new technology and working with end-markets, has allowed Graham’s business to develop new rearing programs to capture extra value in the food chain.
Commenting on his award, Graham McIlroy said: “I’m absolutely delighted that McIlroy’s Chickens has been recognised for its progressive farming techniques. Moy Park’s support for growers like me to pioneer cutting edge technology is ensuring that sustainable farming and innovative thinking is at the very core of the poultry industry.”
Graham recently invested in Northern Ireland’s first viewing gallery at his poultry farm which enhances biosecurity. Graham also makes use of industry leading sustainable farming practices including a biomass hot water heating system, solar panels and the use of local wood chips to fuel biomass boilers.
