Nottinghamshire Midsummer Do raises £12,000

The event was supported by over 400 local farming people who enjoyed a hog roast, drinks, music and entertainment from MC Sean Sparling on a warm Summers evening. Sponsorship from local firms including NFU Mutual, Nottingham Trent University, Barclays bank, Newark and Notts Agricultural Society and Pipers Crisps helped to ensure the event was profitable. Donations from supporters towards the auction and raffle including a day’s shooting, Vintage to Versace makeover, a break in a holiday cottage and a horse drawn carriage ride which helped to boost funds further.

Host Tony Strawson commented ‘I was really pleased with how the event went’ ‘I had hoped that the event would raise £10,000 and to raise over £12,000 exceeded my expectations’. ‘I’m so thankful to everyone for their generosity in helping to make the event so successful, the funds raised will really go towards supporting Nottinghamshire’s rural community – young and old – with development, training and supporting them during difficult times.
