Young Farmers to display pulling power at national finals
Young Farmers will be displaying their pulling power this weekend at the finals of the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs Tug of War competitions.
Over 300 Young Farmers from across England and Wales will take part in the finals at Tenbury Countryside Show on Saturday 3rd August.
The event promises to be a battle of willpower and strength in three sections – ladies, men’s and mixed under 17s, with the finals for each section taking place in the Grand Ring from 4.45pm.
The competition, which is held annually, is the culmination of months of hard training for many YFC members, who will have also competed in County and Area rounds to reach the national finals.
Derbyshire Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs won last year’s ladies competition and will be returning to defend their title. Lizzy Mason is one of the team members
“Tug of War is a great way to keep fit and it’s such a sociable sport. I’ve met people from clubs all around the country through these competitions.”
Hannah Talbot, NFYFC’s Competitions Chairman, added:
“Competitions are at the heart of YFC, from Club level right up to National and it’s always brilliant to see the amount of talent we have in our membership. Tug of War is one of our oldest and most popular competitions and the finals promise to be very exciting indeed.”
