The Lincolnshire Rural Support Network (LRSN), Lincolnshire Federation of Young Farmers Clubs (LFYFC) and the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (R.A.B.I.) have raised approx. £13,000 to support their work in Lincolnshire following a successful raceday at Market Rasen race course.

Thanks to the incredible support of the race course, local businesses, companies and friends of the three organisations, money was raised by sponsorship of horse races, advertising and corporate hospitality as well as fundraising games throughout the day. The event also helped to raise the profile of the work that the charities undertake in the county, especially to the general public who may not have been exposed to the charities before.

The event has come at a time when there are lots of call for support from the organisations, especially R.A.B.I. and LRSN following the recent bad weather. Farming is in crisis and the money raised will really help to support local farming people who are in need. R.A.B.I. for example have spent two-thirds more on emergency/ additional payments in the first quarter of 2013 to beneficiaries than in the same period last year. And LRSN have seen a 30% increase in casework already this year due to the unprecedented bad weather since spring 2012

Pip Kirkby, General Manager of the race course commented ‘It’s been fantastic to work with three proactive and worthy charities who support and promote farming and the countryside’. ‘I am delighted that they managed to raise so much money at the race course which coincided with our countryside day, and I hope it also encourages other rural businesses to help their causes in the future’.
