A new Approach…..
The Bailey Approach SE 745 is announced as The Caravan Club Motor Caravan Design and Drive Competition Winner 2012.
Long-established manufacturer of caravans, but newcomers to the motor caravan scene, Bailey of Bristol has scooped the top award in The Caravan Club Motor Caravan Design and Drive Competition 2012 with its Approach SE 745.
Competition testing took place at Newark Showground at the beginning of May. A panel of four driving judges and six design judges evaluated the vehicles for excellence in design, construction and handling characteristics, including reversing and manoeuvring.
The judges praised the Approach for its combination of good build quality, featuring Bailey’s innovative Alu-Tech body construction, and remarkable value for money. Bailey also took first and second place in the category for Coachbuilts up to £45,000.
Based on Peugeot’s Boxer, the four-berth Approach SE 745 features a fixed French double bed at the rear, with a washroom alongside. It also boasts a large, well-equipped central kitchen and spacious front seating area with two belted seats for travelling. This area converts into an additional two berths at night. One judge commented, “This is true value for money”.
Fifty vehicles were entered into Design and Drive. They were split into six classes and thoroughly evaluated. Class honours went to the East Neuk Fifer Touring S (Van Conversions up to £40,000); Murvi Morocco (Van Conversions over £40,000); Bailey Approach SE 745 (Coachbuilts up to £45,000 and also Overall Winner); Bentley Cerise (Coachbuilts between £45,000 and £55,000); Bentley Oulton (Coachbuilts over £55,000); Carthago E Line I49 (A Class).
Commenting on the Competition, Caravan Club Chairman Grenville Chamberlain says, “We are delighted The Caravan Club Motor Caravan Design and Drive Competition continues to receive such great support from the industry. Our congratulations go to all the winners in this Competition and our thanks go to all the manufacturers who entered. Special congratulations goes to Bailey for its Approach SE 745.”
