Heather Weather at LEAF Open Farm Sunday – Dundee
Hundreds turned up at The James Hutton Institute in Invergowrie for this years LEAF Open Farm Sunday.
They were able to meet TV scientist Heather The Weather Reid who was a special guest and who also performed to packed houses as she described life as a top TV weather forecaster.
The James Hutton Institute until April this year the Scottish Crop Research Institute laid on tractor rides around the Carse of Gowrie farm land, science games and other attractions for children.
Visitors also had the chance to try their hand on giant farm machinery including tractors and combine harvesters.
LEAF – Linking Farming And Environment – promotes sustainable farming methods of the sort pioneered at The James Hutton Institute in Invergowrie and Aberdeen. Farms across the UK took part in yesterdays event. The James Hutton Institute brings together SCRI and the Macaulay Land Use Research Institute in Aberdeen to make one of the biggest environmental research institutes in Europe.
