Health & Safety Event at Writtle College proves popular with Farmers

Over 80 farmers from the East of England attended the Writtle College and Landskills East free Health and Safety event at the College campus on Thursday 9 June.

The popular event hosted six interactive safety workshops providing common sense solutions to farmers about reducing the risks on their farms. The workshops included the following sessions: working with machinery, visitors on the farm, livestock, working at heights and a simple guide to risk assessments. The workshops were all designed around high risk areas of farming to dispel the myths regarding managing safety on the farm.

Vicky Hitcham, Business Development Manager at Writtle College commented: We were very pleased with the turn out for the health and safety event. Together with Landskills East, Writtle College understands and appreciates the importance of raising awareness for safety on the farm and within the agricultural industry. The College was delighted to be able to host this targeted event, and is now looking at further health and safety training sessions to raise awareness among the other specialist areas taught at the College.

To event was open to all interested parties including farm staff, managers, contractors, agricultural students, young farmers and farmers families.
