NIAB TAG relaunches Variety and Seeds Day

niabtag

NIAB TAG is opening its doors to arable farmers and advisors with the return of its annual Variety and Seeds Day on 28th June 2011.

With a wide range of crop demonstration plots visitors will also have access to NIAB TAG specialists providing impartial technical support on variety choice. The free event, held at NIABs Cambridge headquarters, returns following a break of several years and is open for the first time to non-members.

There has never been as many new varieties added to the Recommended List than this season, which makes for some difficult decisions on the variety most suitable for your farm.  Our Variety and Seeds Day allows growers to see, in one place, an impressive range of combinable crop varieties currently being grown and recommended in the UK, and discuss the attributes of each with a NIAB TAG expert, says NIAB TAGs Stuart Knight.

The Variety and Seeds Day is just one of a number of open events NIAB TAG is holding this season.

The STAR Open Day on 23rd May in Suffolk allows farmers to view the latest research findings of the long-term farming systems study funded by the Felix Thornley Cobbold Trust.  The project is examining the interaction of rotation and cultivation techniques in combinable crops on a heavy soil type and has already highlighted the essential role of cultivations in keeping grass weeds at bay.

Open days at the organisations National Agronomy Centres in Norfolk (22nd June) and Hampshire (30th June) are an opportunity to view the latest agronomy research programmes carried out by NIAB TAG that are publicly or charitably funded.
