Malvern Showground adds olympic sized ring to its Equine Centre

Olivia_Buxton
Worcestershires Malvern Showground, home of the Three Counties Agricultural Society (TCAS), has added an Olympic size arena to its existing equine facilities.

The new Ledbury Ring, which replaces the old Ring 5, measures 6,500 square metres and is the largest of its kind in the region.

It complements four other top quality grass rings, 240 permanent stables, a lunging ring and a warm-up area, together with a newly re-furbished lorry ramp and ample hard standing for ease of access and parking.

Said Sharon Gilbert, Press & PR Manager for TCAS: The Malvern Showground is now becoming known as the best equine venue in the area, and we are keen to maintain that reputation, by continually investing in, and developing our facilities.

Ring 5 was previously separate to our other competition rings, and not very convenient for users in terms of access. We decided to open up more land at the back of our stables, to re-create a bigger and better arena for greater synergy and access, and we did it in style!

Work on the Ledbury Ring began after the Malvern Autumn Show in September, and is now fully planted up and fenced. The Showgrounds Estate team is currently working on the gates.

The first equestrians to benefit from the new facility will be those competing at this years Three Counties Show (17, 18 and 19 June, 2011), after which time it will be opened up for use throughout the year.

The 2011 Three Counties Show will host in excess of 250 classes and several HOYS qualifiers, including the Cuddy Supreme In-Hand, and is set to attract around 2,800 entries – one of the highest tallies on the show circuit.

There is a new class for Flat Ridden Sport Horse – a qualifier for The Blue Chip Flat Ridden Sport Horse of the Year.

The Three Counties Show is a fundraising event for the Three Counties Agricultural Society. Registered Charity No. 511868.
