Worcestershire Young Farmers raise 12,000 in record-breaking challenge
Worcestershire Young Farmers have raised a grand total of more than 12,000 after becoming the first team to travel from John OGroats to Lands End by quad.
Toms Top to Bottom Challenge, which took place in mid-April, saw the group travel more than 1,000 miles and successfully complete their mission of getting to Torquay within eight days.
The money raised will be split into two and be presented to charities Acorns Hospice and Diabetes UK at Worcestershire Young Farmers Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 11 November at the County Office at Hawford.Organiser Tom Goodwin said: I am delighted with our final total, which has exceeded our target by more than 2,000. The challenge proved to be both exciting and worthwhile. We hope the money we have raised will make a real difference to our designated charities.
We would also like to thank all of those people who have supported us, both in Worcestershire and further afield across the country. We could not have had such a successful mission had it not been for the help we received before, along the journey and afterwards.
We would also like to thank our member clubs for organising quiz evenings, discos and collecting sponsorship money, which has helped us to smash our target.
