Greg Barker to open REA Conference at EBEC 2010

ebec

Greg Barker will open the REA 2010 Annual Conference that runs alongside EBEC 2010 – 6-7 October 2010, Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, UK. Greg Barker will provide a much needed update to delegates on The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) (proposed April 2011) and Feed in Tariffs legislation.

The RHI is anticipated to significantly expand the market for renewable heat in the UK. The coalition is looking carefully at the plans for Renewable Heat and the market is eager for answers.

Under the proposed RHI one of the bioenergy sectors dramatically effected will be the Biodiesel sector. The RHI will enable Biodiesel to be blended with heating oil to provide a real growth opportunity for the Biodiesel market, estimated at 900 million litres. This will stimulate significant production volumes again in the UK and sustainable growth for the industry as many investors have left this market over the last two years.

As people are encouraged to adopt bioenergy for heating, Biomass will also be a significant beneficiary of the RHI.

Richard Price, Director of EBEC comments

The Bioenergy sectors are set to grow significantly in the coming years, however, there are challenges ahead. At EBEC 2010 we hope to address some of these issues such as financing, Environment Agency issues, the classification of Glycerol in the UK, the new market for Biodiesel and demonstrate how many of the Bioenergy sectors are integrated. We have a strong learning aspect to EBEC with free to attend workshops and local site visits to Bioenergy production sites as well as organisations that have adopted Bioenergy as their primary energy source.
