Burns Plant Services (BPS), based at Goxhill in North Lincolnshire, has purchased the UK’s first 25th Anniversary Limited Edition E16 1.6 tonne excavator as part of an order for new Bobcat compact excavators supplied by AMS Bobcat, the Authorised Dealer for Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire.

Jarrod Burns, Owner of BPS, said: “I’m delighted to be the owner of the first Limited Edition E16 compact excavator in the UK and Ireland. With standard features such as the new ergonomic travel levers and pedals that have proved very successful on the larger Bobcat E26 excavator, the Limited Edition E16 model is a great all-round machine that will be an excellent performer for my customers.”

Steve McIntosh, Director at AMS Bobcat, added: “As a Bobcat dealer, we see the E16 Limited Edition machine as a real winner in the 1-2 tonne class along with the enhanced E14 model from Bobcat. With high performance coupled with a wide choice of standard features and options, the E16 Limited Edition model is a truly fitting tribute to 25 years of success for the Bobcat compact excavator range and will be a very profitable machine for BPS.”

Bobcat offers a number of options on the Limited Edition E16 excavator and BPS has chosen a unit with the new suspension seat, tie down (4), blade extension rubber pad and auxiliary dipper stick hydraulic line options. Powered by the 3-cylinder 9.9 kW Kubota D722 engine, the Limited Edition version of the E16 model also incorporates as standard a new floormat and internal liner, whilst offering the largest foot space in this class of compact excavator.

The auxiliary hydraulic line and workgroup hoses are mounted inside the boom and arm for optimal protection and enhanced visibility. Attachments, which include a range of different sized digging and trenching buckets, grading buckets, hydraulic breakers, augers and the hydraulic clamp, can be easily mounted.

As well as the E16 Limited Edition machine, BPS has also bought new Bobcat E26 and E10 models for the company’s fleet. Jarrod Burns continued: “I started my business in early 2008 with a range of new Bobcat excavators including E10, 321, 425 and 428 models purchased from AMS Bobcat. The Bobcat machines have performed excellently throughout and I’ve always had great feedback from my customers.

“I’ve also had the best back-up possible from our AMS Bobcat sales representative, Chris Scott and the service operation at AMS Bobcat. So with all this, combined with the peace of mind provided by the 3-year warranty from Bobcat, it was an easy decision to go with Bobcat and AMS Bobcat again for the new machines to renew the fleet.”

One aspect that is common to all the new Bobcat excavators in the BPS fleet is easy transportability. Even in the largest of the three models, the E26, high stability ensures that the excavator does not require an additional counterweight when configured with the optional long dipperstick on the BPS machine.

This increases the working range while still limiting the weight of the cabbed long arm version of the E26 to below 2700 kg to allow it to be transported by trailer (maximum towable weight, including trailer: 3.5 tonnes).

From what began as an important diversification for Bobcat as the premier manufacturer of skid-steer loaders, the last 25 years have seen the company evolve to become one of the world’s leading compact excavator manufacturers and lay claim to being the global leader in compact construction equipment.

Twenty-five years on, the Bobcat compact excavator range sets the standard worldwide for performance, quality, reliability and durability. The range currently comprises 13 different models of compact excavators with operating weights from 1-8 tonne, including both conventional and zero tail swing designs.
