Compact feeder provides option for farms with restrictive buildings
A new compact diet feeder range offering reduced height and width dimensions when compared to equivalent volume models provides a solution for farmers with restrictive buildings, says Kuhn.
The Profile twin vertical auger mixer/feeder wagon, which is available in 14, 16 and 18 cubic metre capacities, maintains all the qualities of Kuhns successful Euromix machines, but offers a 5% reduction in width and up to an 8% reduction in height of equivalent or smaller capacity models. The Profile has been designed with the wheels within the body of the machine and this has allowed the overall dimensions to be reduced without compromising the machines capacity or operating capabilities, explains Kuhn UKs technical sales manager Robert Garthwaite.
Twin vertical augers are designed for the fast and effective cutting and mixing of all types of fodder presentation, allowing highly efficient handling of long fibre big bales in particular.
The three models in the range cover herd sizes from 65 to 140 cows and, due to the narrow body geometry inherent in the design, the machines can be run by the relatively low tractor power requirements of 80, 85 and 90hp respectively.
All Profile models have Kuhns electronic weighing system fitted as standard and have a frontal distribution conveyor that can unload to the right or left of the machine. The option of hydraulic offset for the main conveyer, possibly combined with a tilting conveyor, allows the Profile to discharge feed into all types of trough.
Profile diet feeders have starting prices of 32,198 (Profile 1480), 33,622 (Profile 1680) and 34,298 (Profile 1880).
