BASF announces approval for new SDHI Xemium for use in spring 2012
Cereal growers will have the option of a powerful new weapon in their fungicide armoury next spring, with the approval of BASFs unique SDHI fungicide Xemium, by the Chemicals Regulation Directorate.
We are delighted to be able to announce that the formulated product Adexar containing Xemium and epoxiconazole, has been registered in the UK ahead of schedule, and will be available for use next spring, says Peter Hughes, cereal fungicide product manager for BASF.
From submission in December 2009 to the final registration in October 2011,represents a significant achievement for the work and dedication from the R & D team at BASF, says Mr Hughes.
Adexar contains 62.5g/l Xemium and 62.5g/l epoxiconazole and is approved for use in wheat, barley, oats, rye and triticale. It is a one can solution for all cereal crops keeping life simple for agronomists and farmers.
“In wheat, Adexars primary strengths are its extraordinary yield contribution and tremendous Septoria control, it is co-formulated with epoxiconazole so it will also plug the rust gap seen with some of the existing SDHIs on the market.”
In barley it is a “very strong all-rounder” with excellent control of all barley diseases, including Rhynchosporium, net blotch, rust and Ramularia. Mr Hughes adds It is the strongest fungicide we have ever developed for barley and 2011 trials are more often than not showing it to be the highest yielding treatment of the SDHIs.”
