Farm Stay beats the recession odds with record year for members!

Farm accommodation group Farm Stay UK has welcomed a massive number of new self-catering members on board during 2010.  Bed & breakfast establishments have long ruled the tables at Farm Stay but as a result of this increase, numbers of self-catering and bed & breakfast members are now matched something which hasnt happened in nearly 30 years!

Previously predicted to be a tricky and unreliable year for tourism by travel experts, Farm Stay has reported growth in each aspect of its organisation.  Newly appointed Chairwoman for Farm Stay UK, Barbara Sleep explains: We approached 2010 with some caution as no one really knew how bad the recession was going to be and how it would affect tourism, but for us 2010 has been incredibly successful, and we are delighted to be starting 2011 with a stronger membership base.  As a group we now offer some of the most highly rated bed &breakfast and self-catering accommodation across the country, along with yurts, camping pods, wigwams and Shepherds Huts for those looking for something that little bit different, which can be found in the new, growing, alternative accommodation section of our website.

As well as celebrating a growth in membership, the Group has been working hard to develop its new website, launched last year, and has been increasing its members online presence through social media.  Each region now has access to their own blog which links to a facebook page as well as twitter and other social media pages.  Farm Stay has even created its own short videos for YouTube, so that guests can see first-hand the farm experience they can expect when booking their stay.

Barbara continues: Farm tourism is a hugely exciting sector; it offers people the opportunity to stay in amazing rural locations and really experience waking up in the country; it is developing all the time and people are starting to realise this. Our members ethos is simple; we offer visitors great food from the farm, relaxation, fresh air and probably most importantly, great memories, as each of our members have something different to give. We are approaching 2011 with a brand new brochure and a real spring in our step, for what will hopefully be another successful year!
