Team sweep competitors aside for a second year
Yara’s annual Farmers Curling Championship, demonstrating world class curling, was held from Monday 20th to Friday 24th January at the Dewars centre in Perth.

As the Winter Olympics draws near, Europe’s largest curling competition has come to a close. Yara’s annual Farmers Curling Championship, demonstrating world class curling, was held from Monday 20th to Friday 24th January at the Dewars centre in Perth.
Championship winners James Stark, Alastair Hodge, Andy Reed and John Cannon from Duns won every match to reach the final coming out on top for a second year running to claim the well-deserved championship title, trophy and £600 cheque.
The championship has 19 sections, with 4 teams in each section. The winners of each section go into the “high road” play- offs, with the runners up going into the “low- road” play offs, ensuring the excitement of the competition is kept alive.
The winning team from the low road championship were; William Mitchell, Billy Beattie, skip John Davie and Gary Rutherford, who were very strong competitors throughout. In addition to the presentations made to the winners and runners up in both the high road and low road competition, a special presentation was made to the highest placed ladies team, skipped by Wilma Brownlie.
