Be a Regional Representative – It’s your Wool Board!
Sheep farmers who value the role of producer-run organisations, or have ever wondered, or grumbled, about the Wool Board’s operation or service, are invited to consider being one of the Board’s Regional Representatives.
The Wool Board is the largest producer co-operative in Britain, with around 40,000 registered sheep farmers. Its 9 elected Board Members each report to a Regional Committee. Depending on the interest in each seat, elections will be held in October/November and those appointed will hold the office for three years, from January 2014.
“This is an excellent opportunity to get involved with the organisation and make your views known. On average, Committees meet regionally twice a year; discussions are usually lively and friendly, pertinent to the needs and interests of local wool producers. In addition, Representatives are invited to attend an Annual Conference in November” Ian Hartley, Chief Executive Officer of the British Wool Marketing Board said.
Producers that are interested must be under 70 years of age on 1 January 2014, a registered wool producer in the relevant area and nominated in writing by at least ten registered wool producers in the same area, who should each supply their registration number, signature and address.
The Wool Board must receive nominations no later than 3 October 2013. No special form of nomination is necessary, although the Board will supply suitable forms, if required.
