South West company field&flower have just been announced as an event partner at the 2010 V Festival Virgin Media Louder Lounge, serving up the evening menu in a ‘pop-up’ field&flower restaurant, at what’s often cited as the ‘Rolls-Royce’ of festival hospitality. The event is set to take place in Chelmsford 21-22 August.

Virgin Media commented: ‘We are delighted to have field&flower as an event partner at the 2010 Virgin Media Louder Lounge. The Louder Lounge at this year’s V Festival promises an incredible VIP experience and the food provided by field&flower will complement this perfectly.’

James Mansfield and James Flower of field&flower add: ‘The Virgin Media Louder Lounge is the pinnacle of what has been an immense first year for field&flower which has seen us showcase at Taste of London, Borough Market and the Real Food Festival.’

field&flower farm superior grass-fed Hereford and South Devon beef from a small traditional suckler herd reared on Home Farm located in North Somerset, deep in the Gordano Valley, a national nature reserve. Home Farm is run by John Flower and son James, now the fifth generation of the Flower family to produce beef in North Somerset. They also locally source free range woodland English pigs and English Lambs that are grazed on the Mendip Hills.

Using this high quality meat field&flower create ‘pop-up’ VIP experiences and cater at high profile events such as the Louder Lounge at the V Festival. Partner in field&flower events, and farmers’ son, Andrew Venn has a long history of specialised spit-roasting beef, lamb and pork at private events and festivals, and this area of the business is quickly expanding. In addition to this, field&flower sell direct to the consumer via the internet in the form of luxury high quality boxed beef.

The menu at the Louder Lounge will include 7 hour slow cooked spit-roasted Gloucestershire Old-Spot pork, Marinated butterfly Somerset lamb steaks and 4 week hung steak baguettes.

Background

field&flower was born from when city boy James Mansfield (27) met farmers son James Flower (24) at the Royal Agricultural College in 2006 and they realised a shared passion for food & farming.

Flower (24) explained: James and I were convinced that we could combine his experience in upmarket catering with my familys long history in beef farming.  We wanted to meet the growing consumer demand for high quality fresh farm produce with an environmentally friendly provenance.

field&flower has a very low carbon footprint – the abattoir is four miles away, and all fresh ingredients are locally sourced from other farms. Maintaining local farm and business relationships is very important to the business.
