Fans provide optimum conditions for award-winning horticulturalists
Fifteen Turbulators manufactured by Hydor, UK specialists in the design, manufacture and supply of fans, controls and systems, are being supplied to award-winning Winchester Growers to help create perfect growing conditions in Lincolnshire.
Six of the 630mm diameter fans manufactured by the UK company, which is based in Downton, Salisbury, have already been supplied to the well known horticulturalists who have won awards at the Chelsea and Hampton Court Flower Shows. Hydor distributors, Crowland based Spinney Rewinds, supplied the initial order which was followed by a further nine Turbulators at the growers principle site in Pinchbeck near Spalding. The fans, which are designed to have a long throw, move air efficiently and give a measure of control of temperature and humidity.
Jack Blower of Winchester Growers says: We are very pleased with the fans and their performance. Our greenhouses are warmed by hot-water pipes and the re-circulating Turbulator fans help eliminate cold or stale pockets of air, creating an even temperature. Most importantly, they help prevent the build-up of moisture on the leaves of our tulips and lilies, which reduces the chance of diseases occurring, and hence ensures first class quality of our seasonal flowers and bulbs.
