Fferm Ffactor too tall an order for Wyn as Whitland man crashes out
Wyn Jones from Whitland is the latest contestant to be booted off S4C's farming challenge series Fferm Ffactor.
This year’s tallest contestant, 6′ 4″, was sent home by the judges at the end of the programme on Wednesday, 24 October, as we reached the half way stage of the contest.
“I was OK at the time but the next day, after the adrenaline stopped, that’s when it hit me,” says Wyn, who shares his time between managing his farm and working part time as an artificial inseminator.
“I’d had a bad day. It was quite a job trying to answer the questions and milk the cows with the judges watching my every move! The pressure was on.”
The task on Wednesday’s programme was all about the dairy industry. First they faced a milking task in a state-of-the-art milking parlour, and then had to call on their arithmetic skills in a test about pasture management.
Despite being disappointed to leave without the prize, Wyn says he enjoyed the new experiences offered by the series.
“I’d never been up further than Machynlleth before and I’d never been to Caernarfon and that was special!” says Wyn, who has also made firm friends within the group.
“I still haven’t been to Anglesey, but now I know two lads up there – Dilwyn and Eilir – so I’m sure it won’t be long before I go,” says Wyn before adding that he’d be more than happy to do it all again!
“If I were offered a chance to go back, I’d be there in a shot! I’m sure the stress of the experience did age me, but I would try again next year given the chance.”
In the next programme, Wednesday 31 October 8.25pm, the farmers are split in to teams and take on the challenge of making cheese at South Caernarfon Creameries. Which unlucky farmer will be singled out for elimination at the end of the show?
