Rising confidence in dairy farmers is not misplaced
Dairy UK has welcomed the results of a new survey that shows slowly growing confidence among British dairy farmers.
Responding to the publication of DairyCos annual Intentions Survey, Dairy UK Director General Jim Begg said: Weve believed for some time that the British dairy industry was weathering the storm better than most during a period of intense volatility in the world dairy markets.
Our farmers have told us that the situation on farm is improving, and DairyCos latest survey confirms this, with 81% saying they are positive about the future. This is good news for dairy farmers, good news for processors and ultimately, good news for consumers.
Some farmers are still facing very challenging circumstances, but we hope that initiatives such as our Make Mine Milk campaign, which launched yesterday, and The Dairy Councils Milk in Action initiative to follow, will help to boost demand and raise confidence further still in years to come.
