Groom Gets Hitched By Tractor

Norfolk farmer Charlie Clarke decided there was only one way to arrive at his wedding. Scorning the traditional limo or landau, he travelled to meet his bride at Scole, near Diss, aboard a brand new 67,000 New Holland tractor.

The self-confessed tractor-nut, who farms at Banham, said, “I wanted to arrive in style, and I couldn’t think of anything more stylish than this beautiful gleaming machine. Much more exciting than a limousine.”

The T6080 top-of-the-range tractor, bedecked in purple ribbons, got the seal of approval from his new wife. Louise Clarke, formerly Louise Scott, climbed into its cab after the ceremony to pose for some post-wedding photographs. “It’s brilliant. It was a real ambition of his to arrive in one of these,” said Louise, who is from Gorleston, Norfolk.

The tractor was loaned to Charlie for the day by sales and service specialists Ernest Doe and Sons, of Wymondham, whose agricultural sales representative Robin Thorrold said, “It was a real privilege to help out Louise and Charlie and I’m glad we were able to play a part in their special day.”

The couple were married at the Scole Inn, a 17th century coaching inn on what was once the main road from Norwich to Ipswich.
