Bumper Commercial Entry For East Of England Winter Stock Festival

As the winter commercial show season kicks in to gear, East of England Winter Stock Festival is putting the finishing touches to their event which takes place on the 13th and 14th November.

Building on last years inaugural event, commercial entries have increased to more than 130 with exhibitors travelling from as far afield as Keswick and Devon.

Taking care of judging proceedings will be noted judge and showman Stuart Clatworthy, Highbridge, Somerset. Mr Clatworthy has judged at the Great Yorkshire Show and the Welsh Winter Fair and will be looking for an animal bang on 12 oclock on judging day. Ill be looking for a carcass full of meat with an exceptional loin, he explains. Of course Ill want something with ring presence and that walks well, but my champion will have to be a real body of beef first and foremost.

The event will also play host to a pedigree show and sale, which sees pedigree male and female cattle forward from the Aberdeen-Angus, Hereford and Shorthorn breeds, as well as a few Charolais, Murray Greys and Galloways. Taking care of auctioneering will be Paul Gentry of Newark Livestock Market. Judging starts at 9am on the 13th November followed by a sale of pedigree and commercial stock at 1pm on the 14th November.

As well as commercial and pedigree judging, there will be a young handlers competition with entries accepted on the day. A number of trade stands will also be on hand catering for your animal husbandry and stock management requirements.

The East of England Winter Stock Festival is grateful to this years sponsors who include Ace Communications, ASDA, Biobest Laboratories, Caltech, Farmers and Mercantile, Northern wood Recycling, Tithe Barn Ltd and Zintec Feed Supplements.

Entry to the event is free and a buyers breakfast will be available to all prospective pedigree purchasers. For more details on the event contact Kerry Buttriss on 01733 234452 or Email kbuttriss@eastofengland.org.uk or visit www.eastofengland.org.uk
