Successful Year For Cricketer

Award-winning cheesemaker Cricketer Farm based in Somerset has reported increasing success during 2009, with continued growth in major multiples, new industry awards and the launch of its first Cricketer branded cheddars.  The Company, which makes a range of traditional and healthier cheeses, was recently shortlisted in Aldis superstar cheese competition for its new Cricketer Quantock Gold and presented with a cup in the Best Farmhouse Mild Cheddar Class at the renowned Frome Cheese Show, where it sponsored the cheesemaking demonstration by Bob Kitching.

Jo Carter, Sales and Marketing Manager at Cricketer Farm said: It is great to be able to report success and growth at Cricketer and this is testament to our skilled team of cheesemakers.  Cricketer Farm has been making cheese in Nether Stowey for over 60 years and this year saw the launch of our new Cricketer Farm Cheddar and Quantock Gold Cheddar at the Nantwich International Cheese Show.  Our Quantock Gold has already been shortlisted in Aldis superstar cheese competition, a scheme which was launched to celebrate the best of British cheese; we have been delighted with the initial response to these cheeses and are hoping for great success during 2010.

Cricketer Farm was established in the 1940s by the late Lord Beaverbrook and merged with St Helens Farm of Yorkshire in 1999.  Cricketer makes award-winning Farmhouse Cheddar and also specialises in producing cheeses with a lower fat content, such as cheeses with half the fat of Cheddar and Red Leicester.  Milk used for Cricketers cheese is supplied by local farms and the Company works closely with the farmers to ensure that the milk used is of the highest quality.
