dairyeventandlivestockshowlogo

Offering comprehensive technical, business and financial information for the entire UK ruminant sector

How about taking time out from your farming business, having a fresh look at its current strategy and embracing new ideas and opportunities? Visiting the Dairy Event and Livestock Show staged at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry on 16 and 17 September will provide you with the chance to do just that, and it will make for time well invested, writes event manager, Richard Evans.

As well as discussing the industrys challenges with the trade and fellow farmers, you will be able to take advantage of the plethora of quality advice covering every aspect of the livestock business all in one location. Furthermore, the event will provide invaluable training for your partner, your family and your stockman.

Dairying continues to remain at the heart of the event, with the competitive dairy cattle classes featuring seven different breeds. However, following on from our successful re-launch in 2008 to take in all ruminant sectors, we are continuing to develop specific exhibitions for beef, sheep and goats, together with commercial native breeds, in order to broaden the scope of the event and enable livestock farmers with multi-species enterprises to obtain all the information they need from attending this one event.

The popular Farm Health Planning exhibition will be returning along with the mixer wagon demonstrations, and new for this year the Tractor Ride and Drive will enable farmers to make more informed machinery purchase decisions.

Farming Womens Workshops will also be making their debut. Were planning a series of seminars specifically designed for women and delivered by women, offering solutions to issues they frequently have to manage and make critical decisions, including employment law, succession, and negotiating skills.

Added to that will be information from over 420 exhibitors representing the entire food chain – producers, processors, retailers and suppliers, all helping to build much needed collaboration. Technical, management, marketing and all business aspects of the dairy and livestock industry will be covered, from feeding, genetics and milking equipment to recruitment, financial and environmental management.

The livestock sector operates in a fast moving environment. To compete in an increasingly competitive global marketplace, we believe that livestock farmers need to be equally efficient in all their enterprises, not just their key business of dairying. We are confident that a visit to the Dairy Event and Livestock Show will help towards achieving that goal.
