Slug pellet machinery settings poster now available
With the main autumn slug pelleting season underway the Metaldehyde Stewardship Group (MSG) is highlighting the availability of a newly produced slug pellet machinery settings chart, as part of this years Pelleting Precision campaign.
It is aimed to assist metaldehyde users in their accuracy of applications, ensuring no more than necessary is applied to achieve effective slug control whilst adhering with MSG best practice guidelines.
Growers are being urged to request their copy and place the chart thats presented in an A2 size poster format in a prominent position and to check the spreader settings for their particular machine before going out pelleting.
The chart gives detailed machinery settings information relating to motor speed, rate settings and bias for four spreader types, namely E & P TFL 100P, Stocks Fanjet Pro 65, KRM ZS 200 and E & P TFL 80P for each of the listed metaldehyde based slug pellets.
Slug pellet formulations listed include Allure, Tempt, Trounce, Attract, Appeal, Desire, TDS Major TDS Metarex Amba, ESP Super 3, Delicia, Gusto 3, Spinner and Trigger 3. Application rates listed for each of the products details the amount of metaldehyde active substance applied per hectare to assist with metaldehyde users adhering to the guidelines where restrictions apply between 1 August until 31 December.
Operators should also note that the machinery settings on the poster have been based upon maintaining a forward speed of twelve kilometres per hour.
