With an improved library of advisory resources, new informative videos with insights from industry experts and a new Ask the experts feature, The Silage Advisory Centre (SilAC) has revived its website with features to offer farmers easy access to a wealth of information to help them in their everyday decision-making on silage production.

Visitors will find timely advice on topics ranging from grassland management through to feeding techniques for quality silage production.

The website and insights on how to use the new features will be shown at this years Dairy Event & Livestock show at SilACs stand, No. 394 in the Feeds & Forage zone.

The new Ask the experts feature gives guests to the site the opportunity to simply enter a question on-line along with their contact details, press send and expect a response within 48 hours of submission. Backed by a team of recognised industry experts, questions will be directed towards the most relevant SilAC expert, well-established in varying silage-related issues, among which are Dave Davies, director of Silage Solutions; Rhun Fychan, research scientist at IBERS; Graham Ragg, Arable & Fertiliser Sales Manager for Mole Valley Farmers; Lloyd Dawson, Area Sales Manager for bpi.agri and Paul Billings, Agricultural Director British Seed Houses Ltd.

Easy-to-navigate under one library, SilACs range of advisory resources offer advice on some of the common issues farmers face during silage production. From published articles to quick and easy factsheets, the materials are there to help aid farmers silage-making practices and help ensure they make the highest quality silage possible to increase productivity and ultimately profitability on their farms. In addition to this, for those who enjoy the on-screen option, SilAC has produced a series of informative videos on topics such as Grassland Management, Baling and Wrapping and Silage Quality.

Having attended numerous agricultural events such as Grassland & Muck and the Dairy Event & Livestock Show, SilAC recognises the importance of being able to discuss these issues to help improve silage quality and on-farm processes in a profitable way. Despite face-to-face being better, online and social media are growing and SilAC hopes to increase a two-way dialogue with farmers across the UK by offering these resources under one roof.

Also at the Dairy Event this year, SilAC will be present with a team of experts ready to engage in discussions on any issues farmers have been facing with their silage this year. Rhun Fychan, Research Scientist at IBERS and expert to SilAC, will be talking about developments in the research project the National Baled Silage Farm Survey – and Dr Dave Davies, director of Silage Solutions Ltd and expert for SilAC, will be speaking at the Feed Science Forums to demonstrate how farmers can make the most of autumn grass silage.
