Farm Stay UK and Big Barn join forces to launch Shop and Eat Local
Farm Stay UK is delighted to announce that it is working with Big Barn to encourage visitors to the Heart of England to support local producers, farm shops and delis by shopping and eating local!
Supporting the local community is of great importance and through our work with BigBarn we are hoping to make it incredibly easy for visitors to the area to do just that! commented Andy Woodward, Chief Executive of Farm Stay UK. There is nothing quite like the taste of locally produced cheeses and chutney, deliciously fresh vegetables and meat from the farm and freshly baked breads. The food we eat on holiday plays a big part in the memories which we take away from an area, which is why at Farm Stay we think that encouraging visitors to buy and eat locally is so important, finished Andy.
BigBarn and Farm Stay UK created the Shop and Eat Local scheme to make it easier for visitors to the Heart of England to fill the fridges of their self-catering cottages with locally produced food. Farm Stay UK members joined local producers and retailers from the Heart of England at a lunch event for the initiative to learn about the scheme and collect Shop and Eat Local leaflets and bags, which will be given to guests and customers shopping and staying in the Heart of England.
Farm Stay UK now has over 1,200 members who between them offer more than 1,250 different types of bed & breakfast, self catering or green accommodation. Members stretch from the Highlands of Scotland to the tip of Cornwall. Farm Stay UKs website allows people to search hundreds of properties in superb rural settings so couples and families can enjoy country breaks, short trips, rural retreats, business trips or longer stays on a farm in the UK.
