Rhisiart_Lewis
Local Farmer and former Chairman of South Caernarfon Creameries Rhisiart Lewis from Pwllheli has been awarded an OBE in the Queens Birthday Honours List in recognition of his services to the Dairy Industry.

Rhisiart has sat on the Creameries Board since 1974 before becoming Chairman in 1995; a position he held for fifteen years, before standing down last October. He remains a very active member of the Creamery and still remains on the Board.

I heard about a month ago that I was to receive an OBE, and to be honest I couldnt believe it. What I have done for South Caernarfon Creameries and for the dairy industry is something I did out of passion for the industry. I have a lot of feelings towards the benefits of co-operating in agriculture and I highly regard employment opportunities in the local area. South Caernarfon Creameries has kept employment in an area where there arent too many opportunities and Im very proud of that.

We are obviously delighted that Rhisiarts hard work and continued passion has been recognised added Alan Wyn-Jones, Managing Director at South Caernarfon Creameries. We are indebted to the phenomenal amount of time, effort and hard work that Rhisiart has invested in South Caernarfon Creameries. His leadership has ensured that the Creamery has enjoyed significant growth and investment over the years so receiving such a prestigious award as an OBE is a fitting tribute.

Rhisiart will travel to London to receive his OBE at the Investiture.
