Muntons PLC awards five year contract to DHL
DHL Supply Chain has been awarded a new contract with Muntons PLC, the Stowmarket, UK based maltster and malted ingredients manufacturer, to provide global shipping and freight negotiation services. The contract, valued at 15 million over a five year period, will support global movement of over 70,000 tonnes of malt and related ingredients.
The appointment follows a carefully managed selection process, where DHL was ultimately identified as the preferred partner for its long-established credentials in global logistics, in-depth understanding of Muntons operations and its ability to precisely define how it would holistically manage Muntons end-to-end supply chain. The natural cultural fit between the two organisations and DHLs proven experience in the grain and agri-food sectors also contributed to Muntons decision.
As a market leader in the supply of malted ingredients to a diverse global customer base, ranging from independent microbreweries to large multinational food processors, Muntons products are shipped to over 54 countries around the globe and used primarily in the international food and beverage sector. A rapidly expanding company, Muntons recently opened offices in Singapore and Seattle, Washington, USA, to support its continued development.
Utilising its global scale and capabilities, DHL will be tasked with meeting Muntons complex logistics needs and driving value throughout the companys supply chain by identifying opportunities to develop continuous efficiency gains. The value-added projects are set to positively affect every part of Muntons business by reducing operating costs, streamlining working capital and enhancing its customer service performance.
