Company Campaigns to Make Britains Most Dangerous Profession Safer
An agricultural insurer in Coventry has warned farmers to look after their most important asset, as it announced its decision to back a national campaign to help keep them safe.
The BBC recently reported that agriculture has been identified as Britains most dangerous profession. The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) estimates that 455 people have died in accidents on British farms in the past 10 years, with falls and handling livestock or machinery listed as the main causes of accidents on farms.
Laura Jennings, Owner of Gauntlet Risk Management (Coventry), said: Farmers are the most important asset that any farm has and it’s important to remember that accidents don’t always happen to someone else. The risk to every individual is real.
Gauntlet Risk Management recently partnered with the HSE Make the Promise campaign, which aims to highlight the risk of death and injury to people working in agriculture, and to support farmers around the UK with making their promise to come home safe.
Laura added: As a company specialising in the agricultural sector, we see alot of people taking out insurance to cover public liability, but not necessarily insurance for themselves. Thats what could make the real difference to them if they found themselves seriously injured in a work related accident and unable to work for a period of time.
We would urge anyone working in the agriculture industry to seriously consider insuring themselves against accidents. It doesnt need to cost a fortune but it could end up saving you and your family a lot of heartache, she concluded.
Gauntlet Risk Management is one of the Midlands fastest growing risk management firms, providing a range of insurance solutions for those in the agricultural sector and other commercial enterprises.
