The winning entry will be displayed within a special Wool Exhibition Wool Modern to be held in central London during September as part of the Campaign for Wools 2011 Wool Week promotions.

We feel this is a great opportunity for Young Farmers to show their own part of the wool story wool originates on-farm and there is so much that can be captured in a single photograph that says so much about British Wool and its origin.  Gareth Jones, producer relations manager at the British Wool Marketing Board said.

The Campaign for Wool is an initiative inspired by HRH The Prince of Wales and has the major support of the BWMB and other wool organisations in Australia and New Zealand.  It has built a platform for retail promotion and this year will expand in to global markets.  The aim is to increase the return on wool to the producer and build the understanding of wool and its natural sustainable attributes to maintain price in the future.

The competition will be launched at the NFYFC Agricultural and Rural Affairs Committee forum during the Annual Convention on Saturday 7 May 2011. (The closing date is Sunday 7 August 2011).  The overall winner of the competition will be invited to attend the opening of the Wool Exhibition with four club members to the value of 500.

Gareth explained, By working with the Young Farmers Clubs we are hoping to discover some creative talent that offers a great picture for the CfW and captivates the wool story.  The prize will position the winning photograph in an exhibition that will see thousands of visitors over the course of a month, so it is quite a significant accolade and we hope it inspires people to join in and promote their club and British Wool.
