Comment from Stuart Agnew MEP on the EU’s new tax proposals
East of England MEP, Stuart Agnew comments on the EU’s new energy tax proposals released today (13.4.11), that would wipe out the benefits of using red diesel.
Stuart Agnew MEP, UKIP’s spokesman on agriculture said: “These proposals are sheer lunacy and will bankrupt many of our farmers. At a time when we urgently need to grow more food, the EU should not be sacrificing farmers on the anvil of the man-made global warming myth.
The EU’s obsessive green agenda is threatening to wipe out not only British agriculture but the what is left of the fishing industry, as both are heavily reliant on red diesel.
The European Commission is trying to throw yet another spanner in the works for British farmers already struggling to cope with falling farm gate prices and the heavy burden of EU red tape. “
