Patchwork gives tractors a positive steer
Patchwork the leading British supplier of GPS systems for agriculture has launched its first auto-steering system for tractors, combining its class-leading mapping and guidance systems with revolutionary enhanced GPS, boom control and auto-steering technology.
Working in conjunction with precision agriculture manufacturer Topcon, Patchwork has developed the new BlackBox 510 S steering system which connects Patchwork and Topcon components to bring ease of operation, accuracy and productivity gains to farmers, contractors and service providers.Patchwork Commercial Director Sue Davies said: We strive to be innovators in precision farming, and this latest development may be our most ground-breaking yet. With this new technology we are bringing the pinnacle in tractor automation to users that may previously have deemed it unattainable.
Added to this enhanced accuracy and sophistication is unrivalled compatibility in the terms of the tractors, precision farming maps, VRT attachments and farm management software it can be used with ensuring that the BlackBox 510 S can become the ultimate aid to precision farming.
The acclaimed BlackBox 510 has proven to be one of the farming industrys most cost effective, versatile and operator friendly GPS systems. Now, when used in conjunction with Topcons cutting edge AGI-3 Receiver, AES-25 Accurate Electric Steering, Direct Interface Steering and optional real time kinetics (RTK) module – the result is a highly accurate and sophisticated precision farming solution which can compete with any other on the market.
Working in harmony with the BlackBox 510 unit, the AGI-3 Receiver is at the core of the new integrated steering system. It incorporates the G3 triple constellation receiver chip which picks up signals from all available satellites both now and in the foreseeable future. This means improved accuracy, better reception around hills and trees and 24/7 operation. Furthermore, state-of-the-art inertial sensors and steering control give superior line acquisition and holding capabilities. The optional RTK module enables accuracy to just 2cm while the in-cab steering systems not only offer outstanding ergonomics but simple configuration and terrain compensation as standard.
Furthermore, as a result of the research and development work undertaken by Patchwork in the UK, existing global users of this Topcon equipment can now benefit from compatibility with the exceptional BlackBox 510 guidance unit.
BlackBox 510 S accurately delivers all the information necessary to enhance guidance, steering, variable rate transfer and boom control providing productivity gains for applications such as fertiliser application, mowing & foraging, cultivation & drilling, slurry & muck spreading and spraying.
Further benefits include sophisticated recording, enhanced connectivity, mobile communication and an auto shut-off feature (when used with compatible spreaders). This proven GPS area management software saves time and fuel costs while providing a true record of work completed.
