Portable Space launches container range for agricultural chemical storage

Suffolk-based Portable Space Limited, the independent supplier of portable accommodation and storage units, has this week formally launched a new range of containers for the safe storage of agricultural chemicals.

Designed for use by the farming community, the bunded storage containers are manufactured to safely store chemicals away from working areas as per current BASIS and Farm Assurance guidelines. Constructed from Corten steel, the containers ensure that pesticides are kept in a safe, secure and sustainable way, protecting both wildlife and the environment.

Mark Black, Managing Director of Portable Space commented; For any business with a need to store chemicals, there are strict and enforceable guidelines to which we must all adhere.  For farmers, this can mean converting or constructing suitable out-buildings at great expense to house anything from hazardous pesticides, flammable liquids, fuel or oils.  Coming from a farming family, I know this is an issue and I feel our portable chemical stores fill a genuine gap in the market for good quality storage solutions at a sensible price.

To comply with current legislation, chemical stores also have to meet given ventilation rules.  The new Portable Space range is fully ventilated to minimise any build up of toxic fumes or increase in temperature.

General features of the stores include double doors, a 3mm fully welded floor, hazardous labelling and a 300mm upright bund across the entrance.  This will ensure any leaks are contained without contaminating the ground underneath.  There is also a full range of optional extras available including pedestrian and full side access doors, sumped steel racking, electrics and frost protection.  All containers can be fully customised to meet the exact requirements of the client and CAD drawings are produced to ensure buyers understand the exact specifications of their requested container.

Stores have a life expectancy of at least 20-25 years and can be delivered by the Portable Space in-house transport team ensuring containers are positioned accurately and efficiently.

Portable Space was recently awarded second place in the Suffolk Agricultural Association BALE awards which are held to find the best farming diversification enterprise run from buildings or land on farms.
