bpi.agri, manufacturer of high quality silage films, was announced as the winner of the 2010 Marketing Excellence Award for Manufacturing at a glittering Awards Ceremony in the Grosvenor House Hotel, London on Tuesday night.  The Award was made for the business campaign to promote the benefits of Visqueen Clingseal, a flexible, low permeability agricultural film which can significantly reduce top and shoulder waste in the silage clamp.

The annual Marketing Excellence Awards are hosted by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) the worlds largest organisation for professional marketers that plays a key role in training, research and setting marketing industry standards. Seen as most prestigious within the industry, the Marketing Excellence Awards recognise outstanding marketing from UK orgnisations, both large and small across both the private and public sectors.   Within the manufacturing category judges were impressed by the standard of the imaginative and well executed campaigns which demonstrated good use of metrics and stakeholder analytics.

The project demonstrated how strategic marketing was applied to position Visqueen Clingseal in order to highlight the very real benefits and ‘added value’ it can provide to a farming business bottom line.

The subject of the award, Visqueen Clingseal, is a silage film which sits directly beneath traditional black silage sheeting where it clings to the forage surface to help prevent air pockets forming.  Silage clamp surfaces are not perfectly flat and uneven surface pockets can allow air to become trapped, the consequence of which is forage spoilage. By clinging to the uppermost contours it prevents trapped air pockets forming and so reduces aerobic spoilage on the top and shoulder surfaces. Because it provides an effective air seal, it also facilitates a faster, more efficient fermentation process – delivering enhanced silage quality.

Already delighted to have won in a category with stiff competition from a host of outstanding companies, the bpi.agri team were thrilled to hear shortly afterwards that the business had also won the Chairmans Award. This overall award, presented at the end of the evening, is awarded at the discretion of the CIM Chairman to a business selected from the winners of each category.

Speaking of their double Award win, Louise Aplin, Marketing Manager at bpi.agri said:  We are delighted that our work to communicate the benefits and measurable value that Visqueen Clingseal delivers was recognised by the industrys leading professional body. The receipt of not just one but two awards highlights the efforts of the bpi.agri marketing team to provide excellent technical and marketing support to our customer partners.
