World-wide Potential for 360º Freedom Farrower™

The world launch of the award-winning 360º Freedom Farrower™ will take place at EuroTier in Hanover next week.

360º Freedom Farrower™

This revolutionary farrowing pen was developed by Midland Pig Producers (MPP), one of the UK’s largest pig production companies. Its unique design improves welfare for sows and piglets and increases production by giving sows the freedom to turn around 360 degrees while in confinement. This increases the sow’s nesting ability and reduces her stress, which leads to fewer deaths, less still born piglets, and heavier weaning rates.

It has the same footprint as a conventional farrowing crate, but improves the way in which the sow can be handled whilst allowing more freedom of movement.

Its ground-breaking design meets the RSPCA’s Freedom Food standard and led to MPP being awarded the Good Sow Commendation by Compassion in World Farming.

International orders for the 360º Freedom Farrower™ have encouraged MPP to make the 360º Freedom Farrower available to the wider marketplace and the company is now seeking international distributors.

Martin Barker, Managing Director of MPP, said: “The 360º Freedom Farrower™ Pen, which we designed specifically to improve welfare standards without using more space, delivers significantly reduced mortality rates and improved growth patterns.

“We have clear evidence that that our sows and piglets are happier and more relaxed in this design of farrowing pen, leading to enhanced performance. Globally, pig producers are seeking to improve welfare standards and we now have firm orders for this pen from producers in a number of countries. There is tremendous potential for further sales which why we have decided to set up an international distributor network.”

The 360º Freedom Farrower™ can be seen at EuroTier, 13-16 November, Hanover, Germany, on the Finrone Systems Ltd stand in Hall 11, Stand No 11-F25.
