Make your bird stand out this Christmas

Turkey producers who want their birds to stand out from the crowd this festive season can now order luxurious packaging online.

The packaging has been created to help promote locally-reared, tasty British turkeys available from producers listed on popular website UK Turkeys, where shoppers can find a bird simply by typing in their postcode.

More than 300 producers signed up last year from across England and Wales but now they can order their packaging with the click of a mouse at www.ukturkeys.co.uk/shop.

The range has also been given a boost and now includes small and large boxes, carcass and carrier bags, leg tags, posters, stickers and a lifestyle booklet.

Mike Bailey, a seasonal producer and vice-chairman of the NFU poultry board representing turkeys, said: Seasonal turkey producers find the website a great way to promote their birds to local shoppers who want to know where their bird has been reared and would prefer to visit a local farmer or farm shop to buy one.

It is a really useful NFU member benefit and by being associated with the UK Turkeys website, farmers can add value to their turkeys.

Quality packaging is another way of differentiating your turkeys so the boxes and other promotional items are an excellent way of doing this.

The contemporary, luxury branding is designed to attract consumers who are prepared to pay a bit extra in the knowledge they are purchasing a superior bird for their family at Christmas.

Packaging can also be used to present other seasonal produce sold through farm shops or independent retailers.

Anyone buying via this secure payment website will also benefit from discounted prices. To order over the telephone, call Edward Dingle on 01584 861401.

Once orders begin to be despatched on November 1 they will arrive in two to three days after payment has cleared. The closing date for orders is December 9.
