Milk Link awards success at The Royal Highland Show
Supreme Champion award scooped by Mature Cheddar from Llandyrnog Creamery in Wales – Lockerbie Creamery butter awarded Reserve Champion – 32 awards won in total.
Milk Link cheese makers continued their successful run of show awards at the Royal Highland Show this year. Highlights included Llandyrnog Creamery’s Mature Cheddar being named the Supreme Champion whilst Lockerbie Creamery’s unsalted butter was named Reserve Champion, for a second year running. Of the 32 awards won in total, four were special category awards, four were gold awards, twelve were silvers and twelve bronze.
The Llandyrnog Creamery in Wales triumphed with three special category awards for its mature cheddar, claiming top awards for Best Cheddar Exhibit, Best Non-Scottish Cheese and Champion Cheese.
In addition to the Reserve Champion win for its butter, Scotland’s Lockerbie Creamery saw another fantastic set of results with eleven awards in total. The creamery won gold for its mild cheddar and two silver awards for its mild and mature cheddars in different categories. The creamery also won 7 bronze awards for its mild cheddar, red Leicester, reduced fat hard cheese and butter offerings.
Milk Link’s Devon-based Taw Valley Creamery won Gold for its reduced fat hard cheese and silver for its Red Leicester, mild, mature and reduced fat cheese, winning ten awards in total, including four bronze.
Whilst Tuxford and Tebbutt Creamery in Leicestershire won four silver awards for its blue stilton.
At the Cheshire County Show, also held this week Milk Link creameries won nine awards in total – 3 golds, 2 silvers and 4 bronze awards. Taw Valley Creamery won two gold awards for its Red Leicester and hard cheese and silver for its Double Gloucester, whilst Tuxford and Tebbutt won gold for its two halves of Blue Stilton and a silver for its hard Blue Cheese.
