Joseph Heler Welcome Ade for New ITV Programme
Renowned for their award winning and traditional cheese making methods, Joseph Heler Cheese have been chosen to appear in the forthcoming ITV programme Ade in Britain. Set to air in the Autumn, the new 20-part series featuresactor, comedian and self-proclaimed foodie Ade Edmondson, who brought his crew along the Cheshire-based creamery for a tour and chat through the companys heritage and products, even finding a little time for some cheese making.
Ade in Britain travels from county to county in the UK on a cultural and culinary adventure, taking in the landscapes and traditional foods that each county is famed for. Where better place to visit than Cheshire and Joseph Heler Cheese?
Mike Heler, Managing Director talked them through the history of the Company, which was formed in 1957 by his father Joseph Heler and remains a family run business to this day. Set in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, Joseph Heler Cheese is the largest independent regional cheese-maker in the UK. It produces over 40 different cheeses yet it remains a staunch protector of traditional English cheese-making values.
Mr. Edmondson was particularly interested in Helers renowned Traditional Clothbound Cheshire cheese, which is produced in the Laurels dairy, a traditional dairy that runs alongside the modern cheese rooms. Here he turned his hand to cheese-making as he helped the Joseph Heler cheese makers create the award winning Cheshire cheese, hand crafted to a recipe over 100 years old, first used by Joseph Helers grandmother.
Ade in Britain is the third TV show to film at Joseph Heler in recent times. The Hairy Bikers filmed at the creamery for their Hairy Bikers Tour of Britain series. Jimmy Doherty followed shortly afterwards for his Jimmys Food Factory programme, where he was specifically lookingat the fascinating science behind cheese.
Ade in Britain is due to air towards the end of the year on ITV1.
