Yeo valley rapping farmers become social media sensation
The rapping farmers from Yeo Valleys first ever TV advert, have become an online sensation.
Less than 48 hours after the two minute ad was aired in the first ad break of The X Factor, the film had been viewed 210,000 times on Youtube (www.youtube.com/yeotube) and received over 1,000 comments. It then went on to be featured on YouTube’s homepage as a top trend, was a Most Viewed video on Sunday and was number one music download in the UK and number two worldwide.
On Saturday night, it was number one trending topic worldwide on Twitter, with 8.8million impressions, even beating The X Factor in popularity. BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe also leant his support, with a tweet stating: “Must be intimidating for the X Factor finalists to have to compete with the infinitely better Yeo Valley crew each week”
On Facebook, half a dozen Facebook pages have been created, calling for Yeo Valley to be Xmas No 1, and the video posted on the Yeo Valley page received 3,225 likes over the weekend.
The TV campaign is a first for the number one organic brand, developed with the aim of making organic dairy more accessible and explaining the heritage and provenance behind the Yeo Valley brand.
The ad will continue to appear exclusively in The X Factor across ITV1 and ITV2 until 12th December and is part of an integrated marketing campaign including a new website, the YeoTube channel, Facebook page, Twitter stream, PR and an X Factor on-pack offer.
