Competing against around 600 cheese makers, from small scale artisans to big brand retailers, Joseph Heler Cheese came away with 24 awards, including Gold for their Caerphilly Block and Silver for their Reduced Fat Cheddar, as well as two major trophies. Beating off competition from 136 entrants, the first trophy was for Champion Creamery/ Block Territorial Cheese for their Coloured Cheshire. The other trophy was for Supreme Creamery Cheshire Cheese, ironically sponsored by themselves and retained from a successful win last year.

Alongside these major wins, Joseph Helers famous Blue Cheshire (which was given huge praise by The Hairy Bikers’ Food Tour of Britain when the BBC show came to visit the Cheshire cheese makers last year), won its first major awards, picking up Gold and Silver in various categories.

However, its not just Joseph Helers Cheshire Cheese that is recognised for its outstanding taste and quality. This Champion Creamery also excels at Regional cheeses, taking numerous Gold, Silver and Bronze awards for cheeses including; Caerphilly, Mature Double Gloucester, Red Leicester and Wensleydale. The latter recently won the Wensleydale Cup at the Yorkshire show, an amazing feat for a Cheshire based cheese maker.

Managing Director of Joseph Heler Cheese, Mike Heler says: We have been coming to the Nantwich Show since we started making Cheese back in the 1950s and have seen it grow into the internationally recognised event that it is today. Our team has put an enormous amount of effort into ensuring everything was perfect for the show, but none of us could have imagined the success that 2010 has brought.

The award winning didnt stop there… the Joseph Heler pedigree Holstein cows also swept the board in the Dairy Cattle judging section of the Nantwich Show. The farms prize beasts walked away as Supreme Dairy Champion with the Benoy Silver Trophy, as well as Champion Holstein for The Stapeley Challenge Cup.
