At almost 10 years old, England-Ammon MILLION-ET (EX-92-GM) has lived up to his name by becoming the youngest bull from Select Sires to reach the much-fabled million-unit milestone.

Million is the seventh Select Sires bull to reach the monumental mark, following in the footsteps of Robthom MOSCOW-ET (EX-94-GM), O-Bee MANfred Justice-ET (EX-94-GM), Fustead Emory BLITZ-ET (EX-95-GM), Robthom INTEGRITY-ET (EX-96-GM), Paradise-R Cleitus MATHIE*CV (EX-96-GM) and Fisher-Place MANDINGO-Twin (EX-95-GM).

Bred by B&D England and B&M Ammon of Williamsburg, PA, Million is an Outside son from a Very Good Mara-Thon BW MARSHALL-ET (VG-86-GM) daughter of Regancrest Rudolph Dean-ET (VG-89-EX-MS-DOM).

Million made his debut in 2008 and quickly established a reputation for consistently siring daughters with neat, exceptionally high and wide rear udders, as well as wide, sloped rumps with parallel, straighter legs that matured into their real potential later in lactation. From this early position he subsequently grew in popularity because of his exceptional fertility, balance and farmer satisfaction.

Million has been sold across the globe in at least 43 countries and remains a best seller in the US, Italy, Japan, Canada and Spain as well as the UK where he is available as conventional or sexed semen.

With 6,770 daughters in his type evaluation, as well as more than 18,000 daughters in his production proof and a high number of UK daughters, Million has a very balanced proof with a UK Type Merit score of 2.47 and a UK Udder Composite score of 2.25. He also boasts outstanding production (396kg milk) and excellent locomotion (2.38).

Rob Braitwaite, UK WMS Manager and Breeding Consultant for World Wide Sires UK, commented, “After seeing the first crop of Million daughters in the United States nearly six years ago, it was immediately apparent that he was the right bull for the UK market. His first progeny were of an average stature, with very balanced udders and tremendously consistent legs, feet and locomotion.

“He has since gone on to become a world-renowned sire and has been used heavily in the UK for his balanced type at 2.47, udders at 2.25, feet and legs at 2.06, locomotion at 2.38 and easy calving.

“His second crop daughters have proved to be everything we expected and we now have Million daughters milking into their second lactation with a beautiful balance of dairyness and strength. Their most noticeable attributes are rump width, rear udder height and rear udder width, whilst leg set and foot angle and locomotion are also ideal.

“Million continues to be in strong demand and he remains a popular bull throughout the UK. To have sold over one million doses before his tenth birthday is quite an accomplishment.”
