Cogent Breeding Ltd has secured the UK semen distribution rights for No.1 selling Belgian Blue, Imperial de lEcluse.

The Belgian Blue heavyweight suits both pedigree and commercial breeders and satisfies industry needs by complimenting the British Blue breeds size and power.

From an outcross pedigree, he comes from two of the most influential animals of the past decade. His sire, Germinal de Fooz, originates from one of the best herds in Belgium and has made a large impact on the breed, producing numerous national champions. His dam, Davina Du Haut dArquennes, is an influential brood cow and has bred many top-class bulls in AI including Davidson and Etna.

Cogent Breeding beef specialist, Boomer Birch, visited Belgium and examined Imperial and his progeny with breeders Adam Neachel (Cromwell Blues) and Andrew Price (Bedgebury Blues). All were impressed with Imperial, who is being heavily used as a sire of sons.

Boomer said: Imperial is clearly having an impact on his native national herd. Calves are long with correct feet and legs and are full of muscle. His thrifty progeny inherit his dark coat and have exceptional breed character.
