‘Bootiful’ biogas!
Rural finance provider, Eastern Counties Finance (ECF), has recently provided 100% of the funding for the UK’s largest turkey farmer, Bernard Matthews (in association with Glendale Power, Xergi and H20K), to finance a biogas plant, which will help to improve the company’s waste handling and energy costs.
ECF and Bernard Matthews are both based in picturesque, East Anglia – known for its unique turkey heritage. The new plant will be located close to Bernard Matthews’ existing processing site in Holton, Suffolk, and will utilise biogas, to generate electricity for the processing plant solely from waste matter.
ECF is becoming well known for its involvement in renewable energy projects; they have so far financed more than 100 renewable projects in the last year. From wind turbines and solar panels, to AD and biogas plants, ECF is experienced in providing the funding for all sectors and is always keen to get involved in new ones.
“We are extremely passionate about providing financing solutions for renewable projects,” commented Matthew Smart, Managing Director of ECF. “We are happy to work with clients, large and small, and it’s extremely rewarding seeing their projects get off the ground, knowing that our help made it possible.”
ECF understands the agricultural industry and the pressures facing rural businesses in the current economic climate. The company spends a lot of time in the field (literally), listening to customers in order to provide helpful business consultancy, as well as the financial support the farmer needs.
