Lawrence Tomlinson joins Evoco Energy board

Yorkshirebased entrepreneur appointed director to establish small-scale wind turbine pioneer as global brand

Evoco Energy, the specialist in small scale turbine technology, is delighted to announce the appointment of Yorkshire-based entrepreneur Lawrence Tomlinson as director.  Tomlinson has also taken a significant shareholding in the company.  Ranked 70th in The Sunday Times green rich list and the 168th richest person in the UK, Tomlinson brings his exceptional business acumen and mentoring skills to Evoco, which recently received MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) accreditation for its Evoco 10 small scale wind turbine.

With his financial interest and appointment to the Evoco Board, Tomlinson will help shape the company as it looks to drive investment for future projects and transition from a promising start up to a leader in wind microgeneration technology. Tomlinson is already recognised as a leading light in green technology, having combined his background in engineering and power transmission with his passion for motor racing to advance development of an electric vehicle. Evoco currently has more than 50 wind turbine installations, and has orders for a further 500 UK installs. Evoco turbines are available through resellers and have been designed to achieve an excellent return on investment.

Speaking about his new role, Lawrence Tomlinson commented: We can no longer rely on traditional energy production for future generations, and companies like Evoco have been quick to recognise this, but unlike many others they have also been quick to do something about it and use their expertise in microgeneration to provide a solution to a macro energy problem, while others are still talking about it.  I am looking forward to helping Evoco realise their ambition, which will be good for all of us.

Lawrence is exactly the right man to help transform Evoco Energy from pioneering start up to global player, commented Evoco founder, Julian Wiley, who approached Tomlinson for the role following a Yorkshire Princes Trust event last year.  His knowledge, experience, and energy will help power us to prominence in the microgeneration sector as we rapidly increase sales of our newly MCS accredited turbine to those looking to reduce their energy costs and benefit from the revenue capabilities of the governments Feed-in-Tariffs.

Tomlinson is a renowned entrepreneur with an estimated wealth of 400 million, and is founder and chairman of the LNT group, which comprises five core businesses: LNT construction, LNT Solutions, LNT Software, Ideal Care Homes, and Ginetta Cars (which includes Ginetta Supercars). His business insight and passion for motor racing has seen Ginetta Cars win the small business of the year award from the Motor Industry Association just three years after Tomlinsons acquisition of the company in 2005.

Evoco Energy is a specialist in next-generation small-scale wind turbine technology for rural regions, and is pioneering the field of wind microgeneration. Also known as microwind technologies, small-scale wind turbines feature rotors aerodynamically engineered to turn wind energy into electricity. Evoco has invested substantially in research and development, and owns a dedicated, state-of-the-art factory with capacity to deliver 5,000 high-quality small-scale wind turbines each year.
