Dawn Meats, which supplies beef products in 3 major markets to McDonald’s in Europe, was named Global winner in the Economics category. It was also a finalist in the Water use category.

The McDonald’s sustainability report highlights how suppliers deliver improved environmental outcomes through innovative sustainable solutions. McDonald’s leadership and external subject matter experts recognized Dawn Meats for sustainability leadership in the Economics and Water use categories.

Niall Browne Dawn Meats CEO said “Sustainability is part of our business culture at Dawn Meats because conserving resources makes environmental and commercial sense. We work hard to reduce emissions, minimize our carbon footprint and conserve resources thorough sustainable practices across our operations. Supporting knowledge sharing and implementation of best practice in both animal health and welfare and in grassland management has facilitated a more sustainable supply chain. We also ensure that our own processing systems are both economically and environmentally sustainable and that’s increasingly important to our customers. We are honoured and greatly appreciate the Global recognition by McDonald’s and we will continue to challenge one another in developing innovative ideas and solutions with our suppliers and customers.”

Jose Armario, Executive Vice President, McDonald’s Global Supply Chain, Development & Franchising said  ““ Every year our suppliers focus even more attention on sustainability, applying innovation to make a real difference for the people, communities, animals and environment that touch our supply chain. Many of these innovations can bring about more widespread change in our suppliers’ own industries and in broader society. Dawn Meats have been to the forefront in promoting sustainable practices within the McDonald’s beef supply chain and these awards are clear recognition of their leadership and commitment in this area “.

Keith Kenny, Senior Director, McDonald’s Supply Chain Europe, said: “At McDonald’s Europe, we recognise that all our suppliers play a vital role in helping us to continuously improve our supply chain sustainability and performance. We are very proud that so many case studies from European suppliers were selected for the Best of Sustainable Supply finals. These are suppliers whose commitment, innovation and passion for our business really sets them apart. We believe that by working closely together we can make a real difference and it’s fantastic to be able to recognize the achievements of suppliers that are demonstrating sustainability leadership across Europe.”
